Limerick Big Ball Club 7’s tournament

The countdown is well and truly underway for the upcoming Limerick Big Ball Club 7’s tournament, which will be held by Rathkeale GAA Club, in memory of Shane Hourigan, who was sadly taken from the parish in January 2014. As a former club secretary and chairman, Rathkeale lost a great club-man that day, however Limerick GAA also lost a well-known and highly respected referee. Shane will be remembered amongst all Gaels for his enthusiasm and commitment to the promotion of our games and with that Rathkeale GAA Club plan to honour Shane by running this tournament annually in his memory.

The eagerly anticipated competition will be a one day event and will take place on August 6th in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale. The tournament will pit the very best of Limerick footballers together, with top class competitive football guaranteed by the 20+ teams who have already signed up for this fantastic football feast, sponsored by Downes Eurospar, Rathkeale.

Teams will compete on a league basis from 10.00am, with each team guaranteed at least 3 action packed games, with the very best progressing to the last 16 knock out stages. This will lead onto the quarter-finals, semi-finals and obviously the grand finale, when one of Limerick’s finest will be crowned Limerick Big Ball Club 7’s Champions 2016.

With fantastic prizes on offer to the winning team, Limerick Big Ball Club 7’s promises to be a colourful family day with shop facilities, food, sandwiches, teas & coffees all on offer to mark this wonderful occasion. So please come out and support a great event and an even better Limerick Gael in the memory of Shane Hourigan.

So save the date, August 6th from 10:00am, Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale. Bring the family, or even better, hire a bus and bring the parish and we’ll see you there on the day! Limerick Big Ball Club 7’s – Keep the Spirit.
